Mes Recettes, Mes Courses — last updated: 4 October 2026 · Version française
This application stores all your data only on your phone; nothing is sent
to a server, except when you choose yourself to import a recipe from a web
link, to look up a product from a scanned barcode, or to search for a recipe
on the Internet.
What data is stored, and where
Your recipes, pantry, shopping lists, meal plan and preferences are stored
only on your device (the browser's local storage, IndexedDB
technology), along with a few settings and technical messages (language,
theme, date of the last backup, acceptance of the disclaimer, recently
viewed recipes and recipe of the day shown on the home screen, latest error
messages shown on the Diagnostic screen). No account is required. Nobody but
you — neither the developer nor any third party — has access to this data.
If you uninstall the application or clear your browser's data, this
information is permanently deleted, unless you have exported a backup
yourself beforehand.
Camera access
The application uses the camera in several different ways:
QR code scanning (to import a recipe or a shopping list shared from another device): the application opens a live video stream from the camera, analysed entirely on your device to detect a QR code. No image is saved or sent anywhere. You can refuse this permission without affecting the rest of the application; a fallback (pasting the text manually) remains available.
Barcode scanning (to add an item to the pantry): like QR code scanning, the application analyses the video stream entirely on your device to detect a barcode — no image is saved or sent anywhere. The detected barcode number (never the image) is then sent to Open Food Facts to find the product name — see the next section. You can refuse this permission or type the barcode yourself; the rest of the application is not affected.
Photo of a recipe, of the cooking log, or importing a recipe from a photo: the application opens your phone's native camera (as any other application would) to take a picture, or lets you pick one already in your gallery. The resulting photo is stored only in the application's local storage.
Internet connections made by the application
The application works offline for the vast majority of its features —
including the fonts used for its appearance (Fraunces and Inter), which are
bundled with the application rather than loaded from an external service.
Here are the connections it makes, all at your explicit initiative:
Importing a recipe from a web link: since browsers prevent
a web application from fetching another site's content directly, this
feature sends the address you paste to one of the following intermediary
services (tried automatically one after the other if one fails) to work
around this technical restriction:
A server (Cloudflare Worker) run by the developer, first — it only relays the page (and its photo) without keeping a copy. It is hosted by Cloudflare, which sees the request (the page address and your IP address) under its own privacy policy
If that fails: Jina AI Reader (r.jina.ai)
If that also fails: one of the three public services AllOrigins (allorigins.win), CodeTabs (codetabs.com) or cors.lol, as a last resort
In every case, only the address of the page you want to import (and,
separately, the address of the recipe photo extracted from it) is sent —
never your recipes, your pantry or any other personal data. These services
are not run by the developer (except the first one) and may have their own
retention rules, over which the developer has no direct control. This only
happens if you explicitly choose to import a recipe from a link — it is
never an automatic or background behaviour.
Importing a recipe from a photo (text recognition): this
feature uses a technical library (Tesseract.js) bundled with the
application itself, like QR code generation and PDF export — no external
server for this part. Recognising the text of a photo does, however,
require a data file for each language (French, English, Spanish, German,
Indonesian, Portuguese, Italian, Swedish, Norwegian, Simplified Chinese, Arabic), plus a small extra
file used only to detect and automatically correct a photo taken upside
down or sideways (and, for Arabic, a file used only to re-read numbers), each downloaded once from the application's own
website (no third-party service) during the first relevant photo
import, then cached for offline use. No photo, no text and no personal data
is sent anywhere. QR code generation and reading, as well
as PDF export, work entirely from files bundled with the
application, without any external download.
Barcode scanning (pantry): the detected (or manually typed)
number is sent to Open Food Facts (world.openfoodfacts.org),
a free, open database, to find the product name and its net weight/volume if
available. No other data is sent with this request — neither your recipes,
nor your pantry, nor any personal information. The name found must always be
confirmed or edited before it is added; it is never applied automatically,
and if the product is not found (or there is no network), you can always
continue by typing the name yourself. This only happens if you scan or enter
a barcode yourself — never in the background. This service is not run by
the developer and may have its own retention rules, over which the
developer has no direct control.
Searching for a recipe on the Internet ("Import from a link" screen): opens, only if you start the search, a Google results page in your browser with the words you typed (plus the names of recipe websites added automatically). Google receives this search under its own privacy policy; the application does not read the results.
Sharing the backup or the meal-plan calendar file (optional features): the "Share backup" and "Export to calendar (.ics)" buttons open your phone's native share menu (or download the file), letting you choose an application yourself (Google Drive, Dropbox, calendar, email...) to send the file to. The application does not communicate directly with any of these services: the application you choose in this menu receives the file, under its own privacy policy.
Diagnostic report (Diagnostic screen): it contains the application version, the browser and system, the storage space used and the latest technical error messages — neither your recipes nor the addresses of imported pages. It is only sent if you share or copy it yourself, by the means of your choice.
Reading aloud (cooking mode): it uses your phone's speech synthesis engine, according to its own settings; the application itself does not send any text to an external service.
What the application does not do
The developer does not collect any personal data (name, email, location...) — see however the previous section: your IP address is technically visible to the network services contacted (link import, barcode, web search), as with any request on the Internet
It does not use any audience analytics or advertising tracking
It does not display any advertising
It does not share, sell or transmit your recipes or your data to anyone
It does not require any account or sign-up
Device permissions used
Camera: see the "Camera access" section above — used only when you yourself open QR code or barcode scanning, add a photo to a recipe/the cooking log, or import a recipe from a photo.
Notifications: only to let you know that a cooking timer has finished.
Clipboard: read only when you tap "Paste copied link" ("Import from a link" screen); your phone may ask for permission. The Diagnostic screen can also copy its report to it, at your request.
Vibration: only when a cooking timer rings (no permission is requested for this).
Your photos and recipes
The photos you add to your recipes or your cooking log are stored only in
your browser's local storage. They are never sent anywhere else, unless you
yourself use an export or sharing feature (PDF, QR code, backup, calendar
file) and choose to share the result on your own initiative.
Your rights / control over your data
Since no data is collected by the developer, there is nothing to ask the developer to
delete, correct or export — your data belongs to you and remains under your
direct control on your device, at all times:
you can view, edit or delete your data at any time directly in the application;
you can export all your data at any time through the backup feature, to keep it or move it yourself wherever you wish;
uninstalling the application or clearing the site data from your browser settings erases all your local data, since no copy exists anywhere else.
Children
The application is not specifically aimed at children and, as stated above,
does not collect any personally identifiable data, whatever the age of the
person using it.
Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated if new features involving data processing are
added to the application. The update date at the top of this document will be
changed accordingly. In case of difference between the two versions, the
French version prevails.
The application's terms of use (allergens, indicative data, third-party
services) are set out in its disclaimer, shown at first
launch and available at any time from the Backup screen.
